Summer is winding down in the Dayton area, but the calendar is still packed. Late September through the end of the year brings some of the best events in the Miami Valley: the Dayton Art Institute Oktoberfest, the 30th Air Force Marathon, Young's Jersey Dairy Pumpkin Patch, Hauntfest on Fifth, the Grande Illumination downtown, and more.

At the same time, new restaurants and businesses are still opening their doors across Beavercreek, Centerville, Washington Township, and every corner of the region. A revolving sushi bar in Beavercreek. A Mediterranean bowl concept in Centerville. An iconic outdoor retailer coming to The Greene. And a whole lot in between.

New Restaurants and Businesses Opening Across the Region

Kawa Revolving Sushi Brings a New Dining Experience to Beavercreek

The Dayton area's first revolving sushi bar is now open in Beavercreek. Kawa Revolving Sushi serves fresh sushi on a conveyor belt system, where plates circulate past your table and you grab whatever catches your eye. It is fun, interactive, and surprisingly affordable for the quality. This is the kind of dining concept that draws people from across the region, and it is already generating buzz on the east side. If you have kids who love sushi, or you just want a unique night out, put Kawa on your list.

Currito Opens in Centerville

Currito celebrated its grand opening in February 2026 at the Whole Foods Center on Miami Centerville Road in Centerville. The restaurant specializes in customizable bowls, burritos, and salads with fresh ingredients and bold flavor combinations. It is a fast-casual concept that fits well with the health-conscious, active lifestyle that defines much of the Centerville and Washington Township market. If you live in the south suburbs and have not tried it yet, it is worth the stop.

Beavercreek Pizza Dive Opens Second Location

One of Beavercreek's favorite local pizzerias is expanding. Beavercreek Pizza Dive opened a second location on April 15, 2026 at 2760 Towne Drive. The original location on North Fairfield Road has been a community staple for years, and the new spot brings the same hand-tossed pizzas, subs, and salads to more of the Beavercreek community. When a local restaurant opens a second location, it is a strong sign that the community is growing and the business is thriving.

Scramblers and CAVA Coming to the South Suburbs

Two notable chains are arriving in the area. Scramblers, a popular breakfast and brunch concept, is coming to The Greene in Beavercreek, taking over the former Taste of Belgium space. Meanwhile, CAVA, the Mediterranean fast-casual chain known for customizable grain bowls and salads, is hiring for a new Washington Township or Centerville-area location expected to open later in 2026. Both additions speak to the growing demand for quality dining options in the south suburbs.

L.L.Bean Coming to The Greene This Fall

The iconic outdoor retailer L.L.Bean is opening a 10,600-square-foot store at The Greene in Beavercreek this fall. This is part of a national expansion for the Maine-based brand, and the Dayton area made the list. L.L.Bean carries high-quality outdoor gear, apparel, footwear, and home goods. For a community like Beavercreek that values outdoor recreation and active lifestyles, this is a perfect fit. Between this and Sierra opening at Beavercreek Towne Center, the outdoor retail scene on the east side is stronger than ever.

Dave's Hot Chicken and Bubba's 33 on the Way

Two more concepts are in the pipeline for Beavercreek. Dave's Hot Chicken, the Nashville-style hot chicken chain, is planning to open at 2650 N. Fairfield Road. And Bubba's 33, a Texas Roadhouse spinoff offering scratch-made food and 33 beers on tap, is proposed for the former TGI Fridays site. If approved, Bubba's 33 would be the first of its brand in the Dayton area. These are national chains choosing Beavercreek for a reason, and that reason is growth.

Late September: Festivals, Marathons, and Oktoberfest Season

Dayton Greek Festival (September 11-13)

The 67th annual Dayton Greek Festival takes place September 11-13 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. This is one of the most authentic ethnic food festivals in the region. Lamb dishes, gyros, spanakopita, and an incredible array of homemade Greek pastries. Live music and traditional dancing add to the atmosphere. Admission is $5 and covers the entire weekend. If you love Greek food, this is your weekend.

30th Air Force Marathon Weekend (September 18-19)

One of the most meaningful events of the year in the Dayton area. The 30th anniversary of the Air Force Marathon features a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and the Tailwind Trot kids' run. The course starts and finishes at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force and runs along the Wright-Patterson AFB perimeter past historic aviation landmarks. The Health and Fitness Expo is at the Nutter Center on September 17.

Military personnel receive discounted entry fees. Whether you are running or cheering from the sidelines, the energy around race weekend is unmatched. It is one of those events that makes you proud to live in a community that supports its military.

Hispanic Heritage Festival (September 19)

The Dayton Hispanic Heritage Festival returns with live music, dance performances, authentic food from across Latin America, and family-friendly activities. This free community event continues to grow every year, reflecting the increasing diversity of the Miami Valley.

Young's Jersey Dairy Pumpkin Patch Opens (September 19)

One of the most beloved family traditions in the Dayton area. Young's Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs opens its pick-your-own pumpkin patch on September 19. Hayrides, a corn maze, fresh ice cream, and all the fall activities you can fit into an afternoon. It is a 20-minute drive from Beavercreek, and it is absolutely worth the trip. If you have kids, this is your weekend.

Dayton Art Institute Oktoberfest (September 25-27)

This is the one I look forward to every year. The Dayton Art Institute's Oktoberfest is southwest Ohio's longest-running Oktoberfest, established in 1971. Three days of German food, live music, craft beer, art, and family activities on the museum's beautiful campus. The setting alone is worth the trip, with the iconic Italian Renaissance-style museum building as the backdrop. It draws thousands of people from across the region and is consistently one of the best-attended events in Dayton.

The food lineup includes bratwurst, schnitzel, sauerkraut, potato pancakes, and German pastries. The beer garden features imported German beers alongside local craft options. And the art activities make it a great event for families. Mark your calendar for September 25-27.

Germantown Pretzel Festival (September 26)

A short drive from Dayton, the Germantown Pretzel Festival at Veterans Memorial Park is a unique community event. Fresh-baked soft pretzels, live music, craft vendors, and family activities. If you have never been, it is exactly as good as it sounds.

October: Concerts, Pumpkin Patches, and Halloween Fun

Flashback Funk Fest at The Rose (October 1)

The Rose Music Center in Huber Heights is hosting a stacked funk lineup on October 1. The Ohio Players, Morris Day and The Time, ConFunkShun, and Lakeside all on one stage. This is a can't-miss show for anyone who grew up with funk and R&B, or anyone who appreciates legendary live musicianship.

Brantley Gilbert at The Rose (October 3-4)

Country rocker Brantley Gilbert brings his high-energy show to The Rose for two nights. Expect a loud, proud night of country music from one of the genre's most authentic and electric performers. The Rose continues to be one of the best outdoor venues in the Midwest.

Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience (October 3-4)

An outdoor adventure festival with hands-on activities including kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking. A great way to discover the outdoor recreation opportunities available right here in the Dayton area. Our region has an incredible network of parks, rivers, and trails, and this event showcases the best of it.

Dayton Chocolate Festival (October 3)

A chocolate lover's paradise. Samples, desserts, truffles, and treats from local chocolatiers and bakeries across the Dayton area. Enough said.

Pumpkinpalooza at WPAFB (October 2)

For military families on base, Pumpkinpalooza on October 2 at Wright-Patterson AFB is a family favorite. Pumpkin decorating, games, food, and fall-themed activities. It is the perfect way to kick off October with young children. Off base, Young's Jersey Dairy and many local farms offer pumpkin patches throughout the month.

Hauntfest on Fifth (October 31)

Downtown Dayton's official Halloween street party returns on October 31. Costumes, live music, food trucks, and a festive atmosphere on Fifth Street. If you want to celebrate Halloween out in the city, this is where you will find the energy. Great for adults and families alike.

November: Holiday Season Begins

Kettering National A Cappella Festival (November 13-14)

A showcase of top collegiate and professional a cappella groups at Kettering Fairmont High School. One of the premier vocal music events in the Midwest. If you love vocal harmony, this is worth the trip.

Dayton Holiday Festival Grande Illumination (November 27)

The official start of the holiday season in downtown Dayton. The Grande Illumination on November 27 features the lighting of the city's holiday decorations, live entertainment, carriage rides, and a festive atmosphere that turns downtown into a winter wonderland. This is a can't-miss family tradition that brings the entire community together. I have been going for years, and it never gets old.

Monster Jam at the Nutter Center (November 28-29)

Thanksgiving weekend at the Wright State Nutter Center means Monster Jam. Grave Digger, Max-D, and the biggest names in monster truck racing. If you have kids (or if you are a kid at heart), this is as entertaining as it gets.
