This week alone brings the official L.L.Bean grand opening at The Greene on August 28, the Lebanese Festival downtown, ZZ Top at The Rose, and major restaurant announcements including Resonant in the Oregon District, Teardrop Steakhouse downtown, Three Birds near Kettering, and Panda Express coming to Beavercreek.

Grand Openings: L.L.Bean Arrives August 28

L.L.Bean Opens at The Greene — August 28

The day has arrived. L.L.Bean officially opens its first Dayton-area store on August 28 at The Greene Town Center in Beavercreek. The 10,600-square-foot store will occupy the former Forever 21 space and includes the full range of L.L.Bean outdoor gear, apparel, footwear, and home goods. A grand opening celebration with a ribbon cutting, giveaways, and community festivities is planned.

This is a big deal for the Beavercreek retail landscape. L.L.Bean is an iconic American brand with a fiercely loyal customer base. When they choose The Greene for one of only eight new stores in their national expansion, it tells you something real about the strength of this market. For anyone who loves the outdoors, this is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood.

Panda Express Coming to Beavercreek

A new Panda Express is under construction at 2761 Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek, with a tentative opening in late Q3 2026. The popular fast-casual Chinese restaurant will serve its signature orange chicken, Beijing beef, and chow mein in a prime location near the Fairfield Commons shopping corridor. A convenient new takeout option for the east side.

Resonant — Fine Dining in the Oregon District

One of the most anticipated restaurant openings of 2026 in Dayton is Resonant, a fine-dining tasting-menu experience at 524 East Fifth Street in the Oregon District. From Casey and Patrick Van Voorhis, the team behind Grist, Resonant offers an intimate, chef-driven dining experience with a seasonal tasting menu. The restaurant will begin accepting private parties and events starting in September 2026. This is a meaningful addition to the Oregon District's dining scene and another sign that Dayton's culinary reputation continues to grow.

Teardrop Steakhouse — Downtown Dayton

An upscale steak and seafood restaurant called Teardrop Steakhouse is preparing to open at 111 West First Street in downtown Dayton. This is among the most anticipated new dining concepts in the city's core, bringing a refined steakhouse experience to the heart of the metro. Three Birds — Near the Kettering / Oakwood Border

The Idea Collective — the team behind Sueño and Tender Mercy — is opening Three Birds in the former Carmel's Southwest Bar & Grill space on Shroyer Road, near the Kettering and Oakwood border. The Idea Collective has built a reputation for thoughtful, high-quality restaurant concepts, and Three Birds has been highly anticipated since it was announced. Slim Chickens Coming to Dayton

The southern fried chicken chain Slim Chickens is expanding into the Dayton area as part of a larger Ohio rollout. Known for hand-breaded chicken tenders, wings, salads, and their famous milkshakes, Slim Chickens has built a loyal following across the South and Midwest. The Wright Cafe — New Dining in Vandalia

Vandalia has a new dining option. The Wright Cafe opened earlier this year at 3324 Benchwood Road in the former IHOP building. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and plans to expand to dinner service. For Vandalia residents and travelers passing through the airport corridor, this is a welcome addition.

Mi Cozumel and Chicken Salad Chick — Centerville

Two more restaurants are making their way to Centerville. Mi Cozumel, a family-owned Mexican restaurant, and Chicken Salad Chick, the popular chain known for 15-plus varieties of chicken salad, both broke ground in Centerville and are on track to open. These additions continue the trend of Centerville's dining scene expanding to meet the needs of a growing community.

Late August Events: Concerts and Community Celebrations

VetFest Ohio Block Party — August 22 in Fairborn

VetFest Ohio returns to Fairborn on August 22 with a block party honoring veterans and active-duty military. Food, live music, family activities, and resources for those who have served. Given Fairborn's close connection to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, this is a meaningful community event that brings together military families, veterans, and neighbors.

Lebanese Festival — August 27-29 at St. Ignatius Church

The 33rd Annual Greater Dayton Lebanese Festival takes place August 27 through 29 at St. Ignatius of Antioch Maronite Church in Dayton. Authentic Lebanese cuisine including kibbeh, falafel, shawarma, and incredible pastries. Live music, traditional dancing, and a welcoming community atmosphere. One of the best ethnic food festivals in the Dayton area and a tradition that has been going strong for over three decades.

Huber Heights Summer Music Series

The free Summer Music Series in Huber Heights continues with Party Punch on August 28 (6-9 PM) and Reel2Real on September 25 (6-9 PM). Free community concerts in a family-friendly setting. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy live music under the late-summer sky.

Major Concerts at The Rose Music Center and Beyond

ZZ Top — August 30 at The Rose

The legendary Texas rock trio ZZ Top performs at the Rose Music Center on Sunday, August 30 at 7:30 PM. Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill (the band's longtime bassist), and Frank Beard bring five decades of blues-infused rock to one of the best outdoor venues in the Midwest. If you have never seen ZZ Top live, this is your chance to hear "La Grange," "Sharp Dressed Man," "Legs," and "Tush" in a gorgeous outdoor setting. Tickets are likely still available.

Squeeze, Adam Ant & Haircut 100 — September 4 at The Rose

One of the most exciting concert lineups of the year hits The Rose on September 4. Squeeze ("Tempted," "Pulling Mussels," "Black Coffee in Bed"), Adam Ant ("Goody Two Shoes," "Stand and Deliver," "Prince Charming"), and Haircut 100 ("Love Plus One") share the stage in a stacked triple bill of iconic new wave and British pop. This is a can't-miss night for anyone who grew up on 80s alternative music. The Rose is the perfect venue for this show.

Ohio Is For Lovers Festival — September 5 at The Rose

Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Saves the Day, and more take over The Rose on September 5 for the Ohio Is For Lovers Festival. This is an emo and post-hardcore lineup that will transport you straight back to the 2000s. Hawthorne Heights hails from Dayton, making this a homecoming show with extra meaning. Doors open at 3:00 PM for a full afternoon and evening of music.

Fortune Feimster at Schuster Center — September 19

Comedian Fortune Feimster brings her "Takin' Care Of Biscuits" comedy tour to the Schuster Performing Arts Center in downtown Dayton on September 19 at 8:00 PM. Known for her Netflix specials, hilarious storytelling, and warm stage presence, Feimster is one of the funniest stand-ups working today. A great night out in the heart of Dayton.
