Summer in the Dayton area means weekends are packed with things to do. This particular weekend (July 18-19) is a great example. Whether you have little ones who need to burn off energy, you are a car enthusiast looking for a Saturday morning cruise-in, or you just want good food and live music, there is plenty to get into.

I put together this guide so you can plan your weekend without scrolling through five different event pages. Here is where I would be going if I had the weekend free.

Family Fun

Touch A Truck : Friday, July 17

Riverfront Park, Miamisburg • 12:30-2:30 PM • Free

If you have a kid who lights up at the sight of a fire truck or a construction vehicle, this is your Friday afternoon plan. Touch A Truck at Riverfront Park in Miamisburg lets kids climb, explore, and sit in real working vehicles. Fire trucks, construction rigs, utility trucks, and more. Face painting, inflatables, and Kona Ice round out the afternoon. It is free, it is outdoors, and it is the kind of event that wears a toddler out before the weekend even starts.

Happy Birthday, America! Children's Tea Party: Saturday, July 18

Dayton Woman's Club • 1:30-3 PM • Adults $25, Kids $18

The Dayton Woman's Club is hosting a special children's tea party to celebrate the nation's birthday. Tea, treats, games, and prizes for the kids, plus a special presentation about the Declaration of Independence. Guests are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. It is a sweet, tradition-filled afternoon for families who want something a little more refined than the usual weekend chaos. Tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for kids.

Cars & Collectibles

Corvette Cars and Coffee: Saturday, July 18

National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, Dayton • 9 AM-12 PM • Free

The Greater Dayton Corvette Club is gathering at the Air Force Museum for a Saturday morning Cars and Coffee event. Corvettes of every generation, from classic Stingrays to the latest mid-engine models. Free admission to the museum, so you can make a morning of it. This is one of the best free events in Dayton for car lovers. The museum alone is worth the trip, but a field full of Corvettes out front makes it even better.

Gem City Comic Con: Saturday-Sunday, July 18-19

Marriott at the University of Dayton • Sat 10 AM-5 PM, Sun 10 AM-4 PM • Weekend pass $10, Sunday $5

Gem City Comic Con returns to the Marriott at UD for a weekend of comics, collectibles, and pop culture. Thousands of comics, dealers, artists, and creators under one roof. Family-friendly, affordable, and a great way to spend a few hours digging through back issues and discovering new artists. Weekend passes are $10, and Sunday-only is just $5. Hard to beat that price for a weekend activity.

Food & Drink

Glizzies & Fizzies Festival: Saturday, July 18

Loose Ends Brewing, Centerville • 12-4 PM • General $60, VIP $75, DD $50

Loose Ends Brewing in Centerville is hosting a hot dog and craft beer festival. Grilled hot dogs with creative toppings, craft brews, hard seltzers, swag, and giveaways. General admission is $60, VIP is $75, and designated driver tickets are $50. It is a laid-back afternoon at one of the best breweries in the south suburbs. If you are a fan of Loose Ends' beer, this is a no-brainer.

The Levitt Pavilion's free concert series continues to be one of the best things about Dayton summers. Friday night brings the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band, and Saturday features Shakespeare! Both are free, outdoors, and family-friendly. If you have not been to a Levitt show yet, this is the weekend to change that.

Comedy

Marcus D. Wiley: Dayton Funny Bone

July 17-18 • Tickets from $29+

Marcus D. Wiley is performing at the Dayton Funny Bone this weekend. If you need a night of laughs after a long week, the Funny Bone consistently brings solid national acts. Marcus is known for his high-energy storytelling and relatable comedy. Showtimes vary, so check the Funny Bone schedule for set times.

Make It a Great Weekend

There is no shortage of things to do around Dayton this weekend. Whether you are bringing the kids to Touch A Truck, showing off your Corvette at the Air Force Museum, hunting for back issues at Gem City Comic Con, or catching live music under the lights at Levitt Pavilion, there is something for everyone.

That is one of the things I love most about this area. You can fill a weekend without spending a lot of money or driving very far. The community events, the local music scene, the breweries, the museums. It is all right here.
